The committees of Fort Sullivan Chapter, NSDAR are a vital part of this service organization.  The members utilize their many talents and skills in these committees to serve the community.  This is list of Fort Sullivan’s active committees.

                   Service to Veterans

     Fort Sullivan members are actively involved in supporting the Ralph H. Johnson VA Hospital throughout the year with collections of various items such as gift cards, books, clothing, toiletries and household items.

               National Defense

    National Defense Committee organizes support activities to active duty military.  This includes collections for care packages, sending cards, games, pillowcases, etc. to the troops.

             Commemorative Events

     Fort Sullivan Chaper, NSDAR participates various activies around the Charleston area:  Veterans Day Parade, Carolina Day, Wreath Laying at Francis Marion Memorial Day Service, Flag distribution at Old Exchange Building on July 4th Public Reading of the Declaration, Flag placing on Veterans' burial sites on Memorial Day, volunteering at Wreaths Across America at Beaufort National Cemetery. 

                           Service to America

     In 2022 our members reported over 4,974 hours of volunteer work! Fort Sullivan has an amazing membership made up of women who have volunteered in the community in the following organizations/historic sites:           

     Churches, Charleston Symphony Orchestra, Red Cross Disaster Relief, Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, Garden Clubs, Birdies for the Brave, Greater Charleston Rotary Auxiliary, Reading Partners, United Daughters of the Confederacy,  First Tee Foundation, Veterans on Deck, KIAWAHCAREMADEWITHLOVE, Clap Your Hands, SPCA, and VAVS. Additionally, we have members who have led Cub Scouts, and other non-profit organizations.
